Breaking News:Nexus Prime Launch Delayed

Just a day after Samsung launched a video for CTIA, today Google and Samsung announced in a joint statement that they have delayed the launch of a new product. The statement which was shared with VentureBeat is as below

Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course.

The text doesn’t clearly show the reason but it looks like a tribute to Steve Jobs. The (rumored) updated date is Oct 27th  and in London. Google CEO, Eric Schmidt said that IceCream Sandwich will be launched before Nov.

Would like to say that – even in the current state of affairs (esp Samsung and Apple) – Both Google and Samsung decided to respect the legend – Steve Jobs 🙂

There is an update over the web where it is being said that both companies have issued another statement stating:

We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs’s passing

Google, earlier today placed a placeholder in Youtube stating that they would be launching an even on YouTube in about 4 days.

A snapshot shared on VentureBeat is as below:

However, this was taken down quickly after that and if you visit the link now, you will get a message “This event is no longer available”.

But another leaked video is doing rounds (this time clearly) showing the First phone (Nexus Prime) running Ice Cream Sandwich, which confirms that Samsung and Google have a working product in hand. I don’t think they need polishing before the event.
